Many stakeholders in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine are working with conviction to promote an attractive economic location climate with an international appeal. A transparent, cross-border labor market is a basic prerequisite for this, especially in the border regions.
In order to promote this desirable development, a suitable, permanent information structure is required. This information structure must guarantee up-to-date information in the areas of tax law and social security law as well as qualified advice. Only then will citizens/employees and entrepreneurs/employers effectively take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Euregio, and will the economic potential of cross-border cooperation be able to unfold.
After several years of preparatory work, 11 partners signed a declaration of intent in 2011 and declared their willingness to cooperate on a permanent basis. This declaration of intent resulted in an implementation agreement in March 2012 with the aim of realizing the Aachen-Eurode border info point. These 11 partners are:
- REGIO Aachen e.V.
-
the province of Limburg
-
the city of Aachen
-
the city region of Aachen
-
the Parkstad-Limburg region
-
the municipality of Vaals
-
the special-purpose association Eurode
-
the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce
-
the Limburg Chamber of Commerce
-
the German-speaking Community of Belgium and
-
the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem.
Due to intensive cooperation of the above mentioned partners, the Border Info Point Aachen-Eurode, Dependance EBC, was inaugurated on September 7, 2012 during a small ceremony attended by numerous renowned representatives from politics and economy of all three countries.
